In recent years the increased use of Biodiesel and Ethanol petrols has started to cause running issuess with some diesel and petrol engines. Some vehicles manufacturers have specifically forbidden the use of such fuels on some of their engines because they can cause running problems on engines not designed specifically for them. The Laser Tools Fuel Identification Kit allows the user to quickly identify the presence of and percentage levels of biodiesel in diesel and ethanol in petrol by simply taking a 500ml sample of the fuel from the tank and placing the specially designed hydrometer in the fuel for analysis.

Bestimmte Fahrzeughersteller haben daher die Verwendung dieser Kraftstoffe bei bestimmten Motoren ausdrücklich untersagt, da Probleme auftreten können, wenn die Motoren nicht speziell für diese neuen Kraftstoffe ausgelegt sind. Das Laser Tools Kraftstoff-Identifizierungskit ermöglicht eine schnelle Analyse, ob Biodiesel im Diesel bzw. Ethanol im Benzin vorliegt und in welchem Prozentsatz. Hierzu werden 500 ml des Kraftstoffs aus dem Tank entnommen und das Hydrometer zur Analyse in den Kraftstoff gehalten.
